Mediterranean Bank has donated €10,000 as it extends its support of The Ladybird Foundation, to a second year.
The foundation, which was registered a year ago, works to bring relief to terminally, seriously or critically ill children by fulfilling their dreams. It is currently working with nine children and their families, with more constantly being referred for consideration.
It is planning a major fundraising drive around a new challenge, with an official launch expected early in the summer. Mediterranean Bank has already agreed to extend its sponsorship to this event.
“We have seen the work that The Ladybird Foundation has been doing in fulfilling the dreams of children who really deserve a break, and we are proud to continue to build this partnership with them,” Mediterranean Bank chief executive Mark Watson said as he presented the €10,000 cheque to foundation chairman Steve Apap Bologna.
Mr Watson explained that the money was collected through a special Christmas sponsorship scheme when the bank made a donation to The Ladybird Foundation for every account opened last December.
Last year Mediterranean Bank was one of the main sponsors of Nivea Run 51, when four members of The Ladybird Foundation ran 51 km between Ċirkewwa and Marsaxlokk, raising €57,000 in the process.
