San Ġwann dropped their first points of the season after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Mdina Knights at the Mosta ground on Sunday.

The Saints’ failure to garner maximum points means four teams are now sharing top spot as Għargħur, Żabbar St Patrick and Pembroke, who all emerged victorious from their last matches, are also on seven points.

After a goalless first half, Emilio Cornago San Pedro put Mdina ahead. San Ġwann, however, hit back strongly and Shaun Vella equalised on 65 minutes.

At the Luxol ground, Pembroke Athleta chalked up their second win of the season when they had the better of Senglea Athletic by the odd goal in three.

Adrian Galea gave Pembroke an early lead but Senglea came more into the picture and restored equilibrium just before the break with a Trevor Thomas goal.

As the match looked heading for a draw, second-half substitute Nicholas Schembri grabbed the winner for Pembroke 12 minutes from time.

Żabbar brushed aside the challenge of Kirkop United with a 5-2 win at the Sirens Stadium.

The Saints were off to a flyer when Ayres Ciqueira Simao put them ahead inside the opening minute.

Thomas Caruana then took centre-stage for Żabbar with quickfire goals on 24 and 27 minutes, the first from a penalty, to stretch his team’s lead to 3-0.

Shalon Diacono added a fourth three minutes from the break before Simao ended the match as a contest 10 minutes into the second half.

Kirkop made the score look more respectable by pulling back two goals through Albert Busuttil (penalty) and Shawn Micallef.

Kirkop finished the match with 10 men when Busuttil was dismissed for a rude gesture towards fans on the stands.

Għargħur handed Dingli Swallows their third successive defeat after scoring a goal in each half to win the match 2-1.

Għargħur took the lead on 31 minutes following a Guilherme Soares Guede de Freites penalty and Carl Cutajar made it 2-0 on 64 minutes.

Musa Sinani halved the deficit for the Swallows to set up an exciting finale but Għargħur held on for their second win of the season.

At the Sirens ground, Marsa and Fgura United cancelled each other out in a nervy match that finished goalless.

Several players were cautioned by referee Emanuel Grech and Fgura finished the match with 10 men after substitute William Abiddun was red-carded for headbutting an opponent in stoppage time.

Meanwhile, Michael Abdilla scored Mqabba’s winner as they edged Mellieħa 1-0 while Siġġiewi and Marsaskala took a point each after a 1-1 draw.

Christian Briffa gave Siġġiewi a first-half lead but the south seasiders avoided a third straight defeat when Toraino Shaquene Singleton pulled his team level four minutes after the restart.
