Throughout this month students and staff at the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology are holding a series of Christmas activities to raise funds in aid of L-Istrina and other charitable causes, including a talent show, walks, street dancing, car inspections and football tournaments.

The talent show was held last week during which students, ex-students and staff members pitched in to entertain their colleagues with song, fashion, drama, poetry and dance.

The programme of events continues this week. On Tuesday, the Institute of Mechanical Engineering is inviting the college’s community to bring their vehicles for a car wash combined with a free mechanical inspection by the automotive courses’ students and their lecturers.

On the same day, at noon, Institute of Business and Commerce students will join forces with the Institute of Community Services’ students in Stand Up and Dance, a ‘flash mob’ dance, to try and get as many students as possible to dance to the same song at the same time, at the main campus in Paola.

On Thursday, the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering is inviting students to join in a charity walk.

Some Mcast institutes are also taking part in voluntary work activities. Earlier this month students and staff at the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering helped Inspire to set up the lights of The Enchanting Forest, an outdoor Christmas attraction created to raise funds for this organisation, which supports people with disability.

Later this week, students and staff at the Institute of Art and Design will spend a day redecorating the civic centre run by Ta’ Mlit Church community in Mosta, and producing a video about this voluntary organisation’s contribution to the Mosta community.

For more information about these activities, contact Mcast on e-mail information@mcast.edu.mt or call 2398 7100.
