Napoli coach Walter Mazzarri admitted to being excited ahead of his team’s last Serie A home game of the season against Inter today.

The southerners need only a point to ensure a top-three finish and a place in the Champions League group stages next season.

It would be the first time the club had qualified for this competition since the old European Cup changed format in 1992/93.

“Tomorrow (today) will be a historic event because it’s 21 years, since the time of (Diego) Maradona, that Napoli haven’t been in the Champions League,” he said.

“And if all together we manage to claim third place, it will put the seal on our season.”

However, Mazzarri refused to commit himself to the club for the long term, even though he still has two years left on his contract.

“At the end of the season I will meet with the club and we’ll talk about the future,” he said.
