Maximilian Ciantar was back in court yesterday where he was fined €800 for heroin possession.
The 22-year-old from Marsa pleaded guilty to possession, committing a crime while under probation and relapsing.
Mr Ciantar was arrested by members of the police drug squad on Friday night at Mater Dei Hospital, where he was visiting his newborn baby, sources told The Sunday Times.
Prosecuting Inspector Victor Aquilina pointed out that Mr Ciantar had previously been found guilty of heroin possession and fined €600.
The latest episode in court occurred just days after he was released from prison in relation to another offence. On January 17 he was sentenced to one-month imprisonment for threatening four journalists in a court room who were covering his prosecution for breaching a driving ban.
Mr Ciantar was at the centre of a public outcry last year when his 10-year driving ban for running over two girls in Attard and seriously injuring them was reduced to six months.
He left prison early in October after serving 16 months of his two-year jail term for good conduct.
One month later, he breached the driving ban and was granted bail which was revoked by a magistrate for being “unreliable” after threatening journalists who were sitting in for his case in court.
