A master plan for the diving sector, analysing 21 sites in Malta and Gozo, has been launched for public consultation.

The plan, by the Malta Tourism Authority, aims at strengthening a niche that attracts 60,000 tourists a year, in a sustainable manner.

Tourism Minister Mario de Marco said it was the fruit of a consultation process with stakeholders. It takes into account factors tourists consider when they choose to visit Malta for diving, including the quality of the sea.

Consultation is open for four weeks and the plan can be seen at www.mta.com.mt. Suggestions can be sent to divingmasterplan@mta.com.mt.
