It’s none of my business. I’m just another one of those annoying foreigners commenting on the actions of the locals. Anyway, for what it’s worth, my issue is with those who attend church but don’t have the slightest interest in engaging with the Mass.

It seems to me that some members of the congregation are there because the mobile phone reception is good, where texting takes precedence over Testaments.

And don’t start me on those who spend the duration of the service with their hands in their pockets, only removing them for a few seconds to receive the Host.

Do they think that being in church is enough, merely ticking the Sunday duties box, like washing the car and visiting grandma?

When I enter my church back home I will see a large notice projected onto the wall at the back of the altar reminding me that I am in a place of worship and to act with due respect.
