The Cricket Summer League continued last weekend with Marsa looking to keep their unbeaten record intact in a tricky match against Krishna who just scrapped to victory over lowly Overseas the week before.

Krishna batted first and managed a reasonable score of 132 runs from the 20 overs bowled.

Dhruv Duggal set the team off with 32 runs from 20 balls.

He hit four fours, three of which in a row, and a superb six over the mid-wicket.

Bikram Arora did his part, scoring 38 runs from 29 balls as Nowell Khosla produced a subdued innings of 23 runs, also from 29 balls. However, only Pragnesh made it into double figures, scoring 16 runs, for Krishna.

George Agius was the main wicket-taker with two.

Frank Spiteri opened the batting for Marsa with Simon Lavendar as his partner at the crease. They were going along nicely until they were dismissed in consecutive overs from Arora. Spiteri left with 18 runs and Lavendar 15.

Sunny Krishna added 17 from 23 balls, which included one four and a six, and Agius followed up his bowling with a fine innings of 30 runs from 26 balls.

However, that effort was not enough for Marsa as victory went Krishna’s way.

Arora ended up with three wickets and so did his team-mate Kevin Krishna.

With this win, Krishna have given themselves an outside chance to clinch the title.

At the moment, Melita Betfair lead the standings with 39 points and despite the upset Marsa are still second with 35. Krishna move to third with 31 points, ahead of POP Mellieħa, 20, and Overseas, 13.
