In my opinion the implications and long-term consequences of this Bill are far more serious than being a matter of choice of words. If it were merely about choice of words, there would not be such a strong insistence from the government side that the words father and mother, wife and husband be eliminated in public documents.

We are now presented with a situation where natural attributes that have been unquestioned and cherished for hundreds and thousands of years are suddenly treated as alien. Is this the government’s definition of equality?

What about the national curricula for PSD education? What kind of new ‘education’ will young, impressionable, children be receiving? What new books will be imposed upon schools? Will our schools be forced to adopt the teachings implied in this Bill?

What about personal conscience? What happens if parents object to this new type of PSD education, will they be prosecuted? We are already witnessing the tyranny of party politics whereby Edwin Vassallo is being threatened with disciplinary action for heeding the voice of his conscience.

God defined the rules of nature, and when man attempts to defy these rules, sooner or later, he will have to pay the price of his own arrogance. As Vassallo rightly pointed out, the Bill paves the way for other laws that tamper with pro-life legislation.

Unfortunately, the hardest-hit victims will be the innocent, those without a voice and no choice, the little ones.
