A Malta Maritime Careers Day is being organised on September 4 to enable maritime stakeholders to collectively raise awareness about the maritime industry and explore its vast array of sea- and shore-based careers.

The event will bring together professionals, educators and leading industry players to discuss and encourage the improvement in academic and practical training for the common benefit of interested students, the industry in general and Malta’s economic sustainability.

The Malta Maritime Careers Day is being hosted by Wilfred Sultana & Associates (WSA),publishers of Yachting in Malta, who since 2009 have organised three international seminars on the superyachts industry in Malta.

The Minister for Transport and Infrastructure, Joe Mizzi, and the Minister of Education and Employment, Evarist Bartolo, welcomed this event.

“Initiatives like these provide the necessary drive to continue investing in the maritime sector in order to consolidate the country’s position as an international centre of maritime excellence in the Mediterranean,” Minister Mizzi said.

Minister Bartolo added: “On behalf of my government I welcome this initiative to promote careers in the maritime industry. At MCAST our Maritime Institute provides several courses and we encourage our students to obtain work placements with key players in this sector. We believe that this event will widen the scope for our students in the maritime sector.”
