The last two decades saw the wake of a new interest within the Society of Our Lady of the Lily and the Confraternity of the Immaculate Conception of Mqabba to further deepen the knowledge about the cult of Our Lady of the Lily.

Apparently, in bygone days, this was a rather widespread cult. However, nowadays, the village of Mqabba remains its main exponent.

A study was carried out by national archivist and society supporter Charles Farrugia, reaching its peak with the publication of the academic book Sicut Lilium: devozzjoni u ritwal tul is-sekli, published by the society on the occasion of the first centenary of its foundation.

Some years ago, several places, particularily in Italy, were identified to hold a special devotion towards Our Lady ofthe Lily.

Of special mention is Anticoli Corrado, a small village in the province of Rome. In September 2014, a delegation from Our Lady of the Lily Musical Society and the Confraternity of the Immaculate Conception of Mqabba took part in the feast of Our Lady of the Lily, held every year in Anticoli Corrado.

Over the past year, a new friendship was established between our society and the organisers of the feast of Our Lady of the Lily in Affile, a village in the province of Rome.

This year, a delegation from Affile will be the special guest in Mqabba for the feast of Our Lady of the Lily.
