I don’t regret the €3.50 I donated towards the crèche. But I was flabbergasted and utterly disgusted to see the huge amount of Maltese mistakes and very bad English in the Hope Magazine being sold door to door. It was a hopeless effort on the part of the organisers. This type of magazine must not fall in the hands of schoolchildren. I usually pass it on to my granddaughter but this time I’m sending it back with a letter of protest. I was just going through it while watching the national TV and fuming at hearing repeatedly the expressions żewġ min-nies and ġewwa tas-Sliema.

When, oh when are we going to take our language seriously?
