The Aquatic Sports Association (ASA) swimming squad will be travelling to the UK to take part in the Manchester International Swim Short Course Meet, being held this weekend.

The Maltese contingent, under the guidance of coach Artem Goncharenko, will be led by ASA president Joe Caruana Curran and official David Bonello, the ASA said in a statement.

Goncharenko’s team is made up of Matthew Galea (captain), Jeremy Bugeja, Gabriel Dimech, Timothy Hansford, Mic-hael Stafrace, Thomas Wareing, Mya Azzopardi, Charis Ceccarelli, Kristina Fino, Andria Friggieri and Leah Tanti.

“This is the first international meet in a rigorous season which will see these swimmers as well as other top swimmers participating in the World Short Course Championships in Windsor, the GSSE in San Marino, the COMEN Swimming Cup in France, the Euro Junior Champion-ships in Israel, the Mediterranean Games in Spain, the Commonwealth Junior Games in the Bahamas, the European Youth Olympic Festival in Hungary and the World Long Course Swimming Championships also in Hungary,” the ASA said.
