Marco Manara is the new general secretary of the Aquatic Sport Association of Malta (ASA).

The former Malta and Sliema waterpolo player was elected to the post during Thursday’s Annual General Meeting following a very close ballot that also involved Anthony Attard. Manara will replace Martin Borg who did not seek re-election.

During the ASA meeting, treasurer Edgar Izzo, Simon Galea Testaferrata (vice-president administration), Mark Galea (vice-president swimming) and Alan Bonello (vice-president waterpolo) retained their previous post for the next two years.

Changes to the statute were also approved, the most significant being that foreign players will not be eligible to play in the Winter League.
