A project aimed at protecting Europe’s cultural and landscape heritage sites began last week with a meeting of project partners at the Corinthia Palace Hotel and Spa in Attard.

The EU-funded Heland project brings together bodies active in the management of heritage tourist sites.

It aims to promote sustainable tourism and maximise Europe’s heritage assets through integrated management and the promotion of best practices.

The project partners include 10 higher education institutions and public and private bodies from the Mediterranean. The University of Malta’s Institute for Tourism, Travel and Culture is the lead partner.
