An Ivorian man yesterday denied possessing heroin in circumstances denoting it was not for his personal use.

Mumen Traore Trabule, 35, was caught on Saturday during a spot check outside the Marsa open centre with a capsule of some brown substance and a small amount of cannabis. Prosecuting officer Malcolm Bondin said the capsule contained around 20 grams of heroin .

Mr Trabule was also charged with relapsing and breaching a probation order from a case last November.

Magistrate Natasha Galea Sciberras heard the man plead not guilty to the charges brought against him. She granted him bail against a deposit of €450 and a €7,000 personal guarantee.

Lawyer Dr Joe Mifsud appeared for the defendant.
