A Serbian man who falsified visa stamps on his passport has been given a seven-month jail term, suspended for 18 months.

Krstic Nenad, 21, admitted to tampering with the passport, forgery and using the document to enter Malta. Mr Nenad used false visa stamps in an attempt to fool the authorities into believing his visa was being renewed every three months, sources close to the case said.

Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera handed down the suspended jail term after taking into consideration his early guilty plea.
