A 63-year-old man from Birżebbuġa is expected to be charged today with attempted murder after he allegedly fired a shot at a Somali man.

Antonio Sultana was arrested after an argument broke out in the Somali’s apartment in Triq l-Għanneja at around 7pm.

Investigative sources said Mr Sultana, who lived in the same block, was having a few drinks at the apartment.

The man asked him to leave because he felt that he had had a bit too much to drink but Mr Sultana felt offended and allegedly went to fetch a gun, the sources said.

The police believe he fired a shot at the Somali and another towards the roof of the common area. No one was injured but the sources said the bullet missed the Somali by inches.

Duty Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera appointed experts to help her inquiry.
