A 55-year-old man from Mosta died yesterday afternoon following a collision near St Vincent de Paul Residence in Luqa, the police said.

The pick-up was involved in a crash between a Mitsubishi pick-up van and a Jaguar S-Type driven by a 19-year-old man from Ħamrun.

The van was coming out of the Għammieri farm junction while the Jaguar was being driven downhill towards Marsa.

The pick-up overturned with the force of impact and the driver died on the spot.

A magisterial inquiry is under way.

Meanwhile, in another incident a 15-year-old girl and her six-year-old brother were injured yesterday morning when they were hit by a car in Cottonera Road, Vittoriosa, the police said.

The girl was in a critical condition, while the boy was slightly hurt. The incident occurred at around 8.30am.

The siblings from Vittoriosa were crossing the road when they were hit by a Toyota being driven towards Zabbar by a 38-year-old man from Pieta. They were taken to Mater Dei Hospital.
