A 60-year-old died in a crash on Burmarrad Road yesterday evening and police are looking into the possibility that he fell ill before the accident occurred.

The man, from Mosta, was driving a Subaru J10.

The other car, a Fiat Brava, was being driven by a 75-year-old woman from Birkirkara, who escaped unhurt.

A medical team tried to give first aid to the man but he died on the spot.

The cars were not badly damaged but the road had to be closed to traffic in the direction of Mosta.

A few minutes later and just 400 metres up the road, a motorcyclist was injured in another crash and he was rushed to hospital.

Earlier in the afternoon, a driver was slightly injured when his car went out of control on the Rabat road and ended up upside down in a field.
