A Libyan man who allegedly stole 43 bottles of wine from a restaurant, along with other items used as decorations, has been remanded in custody after pleading not guilty to the theft and relapsing.

Isam Mohammed El Shamhumi, 35, from Mellieħa, allegedly stole the items from Margo’s restaurant in Mistra Bay.

They included a bottle of Amaretto, a saw, a lighting extension, two lamps, three antique cooking stoves and an antique radio.

He also denied breaching the conditions of two conditional discharges, committing a crime during the operative period of a suspended jail term and breaching conditions of bail.

Magistrate Carol Peralta remanded him in custody.
