A young man was yesterday charged with drug trafficking at a party on Sunday.

Paul Carabott, 21, from Żejtun pleaded not guilty to trafficking ecstasy and being in possession of the drug in circumstances denoting it was not for his exclusive use and within 100 metres of a place frequented by minors.

Police Inspector Herman Mula objected to bail being granted due to the severity of the case.

Defence lawyer Franco Debono, however, said his client had fully cooperated during the investigations and there was no fear of him tampering with evidence.

Magistrate Anthony Vella granted him bail against a deposit of €500 and a personal guarantee €5,000.
