An Egyptian man was yesterday charged with slashing a man’s face with a knife during an argument.

Ali Mohamed, 31, of Qawra, pleaded not guilty to seriously injuring Zayid Ahmed in a fight that broke out between the two men on Thursday at around 6.30pm.

He was also charged with possession of a knife without a licence and threatening and insulting Mr Ahmed. He pleaded not guilty to breaching the peace and using vulgar language in public.

Magistrate Neville granted bail against a deposit of €700 and a personal guarantee of €10,000.
