One of the many disgruntled Fantasy Tours customers was yesterday cleared of threatening the owner’s parents after his holiday failed to materialise.

Steve Micallef, 35, from Żebbuġ, had sent a message to Emanuel and Emma Azzopardi on Facebook, demanding they pay him the money he spent and saying that if they did not go to him, he would go to them.

He also called them three times in attempt to get his money back.

Mr Micallef sent the message because Ms Azzopardi is one of the travel agency’s directors, along with her son, Karl, who is seeking to have the company declared bankrupt.

The message was sent at around on August 19.

During proceedings yesterday, Magistrate Charmaine Galea found Mr Micallef not guilty of harassing the couple and misusing a computer due to lack of evidence. Mr and Ms Azzopardi also forgave him.

Last month, the police concluded their investigations into Fantasy Tours after Golden Travel Club Ltd, the operator of Fantasy Tours, cancelled almost €400,000 worth of vacations at the beginning of August.

More than 250 reports were filed at various police stations by angry clients claiming the agency had taken their money for booked holidays that fell through.

The same day the clients were informed by text message about their cancelled holidays, the company filed a suit asking the First Hall of the Civil Court to dissolve it on the basis of bankruptcy since it could not repay its debts.
