A man was remanded in custody yesterday over various drugs-related charges after police found 400 Ecstasy pills and cocaine in his possession.

Prosecuting Inspector Pierre Grech said Geoffrey Turner, 35, of Mosta, was arrested on Friday evening after his vehicle was pulled over by the mobile police squad.

Mr Turner, for whom there was a pending arrest warrant, was carrying 391 ecstasy pills and around six grams of cocaine in his car, Insp. Grech said.

When the police searched his apartment, they found cannabis. Mr Turner denies the charges.

In a separate arraignment, Ghanian man Francis Opoku pleaded not guilty to seriously injuring Peter Kyereme by smashing a glass on his forehead.

Mr Opodu, 28, of Msida, was arrested after police were informed that an injured man being treated at Mater Dei Hospital on Friday evening.

A witness who testified during the arraignment, Oppopong Bismark, said that the fight broke out at Mr Opodu’s apartment at around 8 p.m. when the accused returned home.
