A man who stole almost €1,000 in cash from the Sliema waterpolo pitch changing rooms on April 11 was given a suspended jail term.

Joseph Pisani, 68, of Cospicua, walked in and took the money from a bag belonging to a German man living in Malta.

Mr Pisani pleaded guilty and was sentenced to two years in jail, suspended for four years, and ordered to pay back the €980 he had stolen.

Police Inspector Jason Sultana prosecuted.
