A 27-year-old man has been accused of threatening and assaulting two police constables who insisted he wore a seatbelt while driving.

Aaron Ritchie, from Marsascala, has pleaded not guilty to driving dangerously and without a seatbelt, disobeying police orders and breaching the peace in Żejtun on Thursday at about 11.30 a.m.

Magistrate Giovanni Grixti granted Mr Ritchie bail against a personal guarantee of €2,000.

Police Inspector Arthur Mercieca prosecuted.
