A man who fled police minutes after two separate hit-and-run incidents on Saturday night has been arrested in connection with the two cases.

The man, a 23-year-old Attard resident driving a Citroen C2, was reportedly “acting suspiciously” as police patrolled St Julians streets shortly after the reported incidents.

In the first incident, a young couple were hit by a speeding vehicle in St Andrew’s Road just after 3 a.m. They were taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance and treated for slight injuries.

As police investigated this first case, they received word of a similar incident in Paceville Avenue. There, they found a 37-year-old woman who said she had just been hit by a car.

The woman was also taken to Mater Dei and received treatment for serious, though not life-threatening, injuries.
