A Sicilian serial thief pleaded guilty to 10 counts of theft in the span of two months.

Gianluca Torres, 40, was accused of stealing a number of items, including bags, from different people between September and November in various places across the island.

Mr Torres hit the headlines last year when he raided the donation box of the Millennium chapel, in Paceville, saying he needed the money to buy a cot for his baby.

Magistrate Audrey Demicoli remanded him in custody pending judgment today.

Police Inspector Trevor Micallef prosecuted.
