A young man was yesterday charged with brazenly walking into homes to steal cash and walking out when he found nothing to take.

Clint Dalton, 25, from St Paul’s Bay, pleaded not guilty to stealing from a house in Birkirkara and trying to steal from another four in the same locality on August 27.

He also pleaded not guilty to committing the crime during the operative period of a suspended jail term, while on bail and relapsing.

Mr Dalton allegedly walked into the houses, whose front door was open but had a closed internal door, even when people were inside, sources close to the case said.

Magistrate Claire Stafrace Zammit turned down a request for bail.
