I would like to thank The Sunday Times for publishing (on October 9) the amazing, dramatic story of the Maltese seaman Andrew Micallef who was a prisoner-of-war in a Japanese camp.

Were not for Alfred Conti Borda’s assiduous research and dedication,  such episodes, which are part of our country’s rich naval heritage, would have gone unnoticed.

Thanks to such writings these outstanding heroic experiences will be recorded for posterity.
