Fr Emanuel Barbara, a Franciscan Capuchin from Gżira, was yesterday ordained bishop of Malindi diocese in Kenya, where he had served for 18 years until 2008.

Mgr Barbara, who will be 62 this month, joined the Franciscan Capuchin Province in 1965 and was ordained priest nine years later.

In a message to Mgr Barbara, Archbishop Paul Cremona called on him to strengthen his flock “in the faith as Jesus called Peter to strengthen the other apostles”.
