A Maltese driver was involved in a tragic road accident in Sicily in which two Italian men riding a motorcycle were killed.

Italian media reported that the bike and the car had a head-on collision on the road between Trapani and Marsala, and that Maltese tourists were in the car. They were unhurt.

The accident occurred on Wednesday morning at a junction, with the car, a Honda Accord, reportedly preparing to turn towards a Carrefour store.

Elio Barbera, 30 and Davide Sanna 23, both of Trapani, died on the scene after their machine shattered into pieces on impact.
