Several Maltese players, including national team members, veterans and Under-15s, will take part in the 2015 World Cup, being staged at San Benedetto Del Tronto in Italy this weekend.

The contingent, led by Malta Table Football Sports Association (MTFSA) president Joe Zammit Pavia and other high-ranking officials, comprises 15 players in all.

During the tournament, Zammit Pavia will attend a Congress Meeting, organised by the international federation, as a board member and also in his capacity as vice-president of the world body of table football.

Mark Gauci will captain the team in the Open championship.

The other members are Josef Camilleri, Andrew Abela and Tristan Fenech.

Making up the veterans’ team are Jason Pisani (captain), Charles Aquilina, Mas-simo Cremona and Joseph Mif-sud.

Joseph M. Debono and Etienne Deguara are substitutes.

Jurgen Balzan, Andrew Deguara, Nigel Spiteri and Joseph Agius will represent the country in the Under-15 World Cup.

Tomorrow, all players will be involved in the singles competitions.

In Italy, the Maltese Under-12 and Under-15 players have entered the individual tournaments after a lapse of a few years.
