The Central Bank of Malta and Banque d’Algérie – the Algerian central bank – have agreed to hold annual high level meetings to take collaborative relations between them to a new level.

Board director Philomena Meli and the head of communications and international relations department Silvio Galea, met with governor Mohamed Loukal, vice governor Said Maherzi and the governor’s adviser, Abed Hocine, in Algiers last week.

The promotion of banking services to facilitate trade in goods and services, and investment between the two countries, was high on the agenda of the meeting. Collaboration in training and further education in central banking studies was also discussed.
