A team from the Malta Eight Ball Federation will participate in the European Blackball Championships in Bridlington, England, between today and May 2.
More than 650 players from 10 different countries have registered to take part in the tournament.
The Maltese federation will field teams and individuals in various categories.
Top seed Mario Brincat will lead the team which also includes Philip Ciantar, Maverick Zammit, Lydon Debono, Ivan Rizzo, Clayton Castaldi and Kevin Schembri.
Reuben Xuereb is team manager.
The U-18 selection, guided by Ryan Cassar, is composed of Leon Azzopardi, Brian Cini, Ben Schembri, Owen Amato, Alessio Magro, Matthew Zammit and Miguel Amato.
Clayton Pace (men), Roberta Cutajar (women), Sheldon Lanzon Attard (U-18), Brian Dingli (over 40) and Peter Tonna (over 50) will compete in the competition for individuals.
The Under-18 selection will be the first Maltese team in action in England when they play their opening match today.
The men’s team open their commitments against Gibraltar on Saturday.
