The draws of the Euro qualifying competition of the Women’s World Cup 2013-15 preliminary round was made this week.

Malta have been drawn in Group One with Albania, Luxembourg and Latvia. The Malta FA will host the group matches between April 4 and 9, 2013.

With the national team showing signs of progress, especially after their recent victories in friendly matches, the group ties do not seem to be beyond the girls’ reach.

In the next months, coach Pierre Brincat and his assistant Mark Gatt will be fully engaged in tuning up their squad to reach optimal physical and technical levels.

The preparation will most likely include other friendly matches which should provide the team mentors with a better picture with regard to the levels reached.

Meanwhile, the Malta FA, through their Women’s Department within the Technical Centre, will organise another Fun Football Festival for girls at the Centenary Stadium on December 27.

This event follows the success of the festival held last summer. This time, the festival will be held in partnership with FIFA and GSD.

Young girls will have the opportunity to play football in an environment where they can learn how to adopt certain tactics through fun games.

The sessions will be carried out by qualified coaches and national team players.

Those interested may download applications from the MFA website or contact the organisers at footballgirls@mfa.com.mt.
