Malta and Libya yesterday signed a memorandum of understanding where it was agreed that cooperation would be strengthened in a number of areas, especially immigration and maritime security.

The agreement was signed by Manuel Mallia, Minister for Home Affairs and National Security, and Libya’s Minister of the Interior Saaleh Abdurraheem.

With regard to maritime security, the two sides agreed to help each other with training as well as the exchange of information.

The government said in a statement that this MOU was a first step that will lead to further cooperation in areas that are of interest to both countries.
