A Lufthansa flight, on its way from Germany to Malta yesterday afternoon, was diverted to Rome to disembark a sick passenger, an airline spokesman said.

The Airbus A320 left Frankfurt airport at 1.20pm and was scheduled to land in Luqa at 3.45pm. However, a diversion had to be made to Rome because of the ill passenger.

The plane landed in Malta just after 8pm.
