Have you ever fancied yourself as crocodile Dundee or perhaps a Maltese version of the late Steve Irwin? Well, now is your chance with a hatchling croc up for sale on a popular auction website.
The baby croc, a spectacled caiman or common caiman, is up for sale on Maltapark and, according to the owners, has all the necessary documentation and import permission.
You could become the proud owners of the crocodile for just €300. The advert says it feeds on baby mice, fish and crickets.
The species for sale are widely distributed throughout Central and South America in a variety of habitats due to their adaptability and more generalist nature.
They are also commonly available in the pet trade and are probably the most popular crocodilian species kept by private individuals. However, they are perhaps not the best captives, a website specialising in crocodiles notes. Adult males can grow up 2-2.5 metres in length in around 10 to 15 years. They also have a reputation for being particularly aggressive, the website warns.
