Malta U-19 suffered a second successive 5-0 defeat in the UEFA mini-tournament when they were beaten by hosts Poland, in Wronki, yesterday.
Branko Nisevic’s team, who lost to the Netherlands by five clear goals earlier this week, found the going tough against the Poles who went in for the break leading following goals from Kamil Wlodyka (21) and Piotr Zielinski (38).
Poland added a quick double after the restart through Gracjan Horoszkiewicz (53) and Wlodyka (60) before substitute Jakub Legierski wrapped up the win with a fifth goal 15 minutes from time.
Poland are sharing the top position in the group with six points with the Netherlands who yesterday beat San Marino 4-0.
The two front-runners will clash for first place on Sunday in Wronki while Malta will look to pick up their first points in the group when they play San Marino in Swarzedz. Both matches start at 1 p.m.
