The Malta Photographic Society donated nearly 70 copies of the hardbound book Celebrating Photography in Malta, a book it published in full colour to commemorate its 50th anniversary.

The publication of the book was made possible through the financial support provided by the Malta Arts Fund. The book formally documents the historical development of photography in Malta and serves as a showcase of Maltese photographic art.

The largest majority of the books donated were presented to the Library Service Section within the Education Ministry. Anna Maria Gilson, service manager, Projects and Initiatives, of the Directorate for Educational Services, received the books on behalf of secondary schools in Malta and Gozo.

The society also donated copies of the book to the University of Malta, Mcast’s Arts and Design Centre and the Public Libraries.

The Malta Photographic Society currently has well over 250 members. It promotes the medium of photography as an art and provides photo-graphy education to the public and to its members.

The society organises weekly meetings, regular photographic seminars and workshops, photowalks, competitions and exhibitions. It also produces a bi-monthly printed magazine called Click.
