The Malta Insurance Institute (MII) was relaunched during a recent symposium for insurance professionals with new council members and a revised MII statute and code of ethics to which prospective members will be invited to subscribe.

The MII seeks collaboration with all entities sharing a common interest to enhance the insurance profession. MII’s vision is to achieve professionalism through education and networking. In this regard, the institute intends to organise a number of continuous professional development events for its members. Membership includes two free CPD activities each year together with the use of the MITC technical library.

The new council members are president Andre Farrugia, vice-president Joseph Avellino, secretary Ian-Edward Stafrace, treasurer Rein Caruana and council members Lawrence Formosa and Alfred Gatt.

The symposium ended with a presentation on earthquake claims delivered by David Pike, of Hayes and Pike Chartered Loss Adjusters, who was recently involved in a major assignment in New Zealand following a devastating earthquake which occurred in the region.

Any insurance professionals in Malta who are FCII, ACII, DIPCII CERT CII holders or those holding/in the process of achieving such/equivalent in-surance qualifications can join the institute by sending an e-mail to andrefarrugia@mitcentre.com.

Moreover, one could join the MII Linkedin group that was set up to further encourage the exchange of knowledge, experience and ideas among local insurance professionals.
