The Malta Arts Fund, a funding mechanism of the Malta Council for Culture and the Arts, provides the required stimulus for more investment in local artists and their work. It aims to support artists in improving their skills and arts organisations in ameliorating their level of professionalism. Furthermore the Fund aims at strengthening artistic practice and cultural development on a national and international scale.

Strand 1 concerns the Project Support Grant which supports stand-alone art projects by individual artists, groups or organisations and this grant is further split into a two sub-strands: €80,000 is allocated for small projects and €160,000 for large projects.

Strand 2 targets small projects and caters for individuals, groups and organisations seeking support not exceeding €5,000 for a one-off artistic project with a maximum duration of 12 months.

Strand 3 targets large projects and caters for individuals, groups or organisations seeking support valued at not less than €5,000 but not exceeding €20,000 for a one-off artistic project with a maximum duration of 12 months. A maximum of 80 per cent of the project expenditure can be funded.
