Reference is made to letters dealing with delays in the delivery of mail sent from Malta to Australia.
Mail items to Australia that are dropped in any Maltapost letterbox before 7pm between Monday and Friday (3pm on Saturdays) is collected, processed and dispatched by the following day to London for onward dispatch to Australia.
On those occasions when we noted delays in the London to Australia sector, Maltapost did not hesitate to draw the attention of its handling agents and, when considered necessary, it proceeded to make alternative arrangements.
Whereas such delays are regretted, it should also be said that Maltapost, as with every other postal operator, needs to rely on the service of its counterparts who play a key role in ensuring a complete and efficient delivery service to destination. Even though ongoing service audits are carried out, one cannot exclude the occasional service failure.
