A recent post on the internet showed a clip of Iron Maiden’s vocalist Bruce Dickinson not, as one might expect, in a recording studio or perhaps performing onstage, but in front of Robinsons’ Unicorn Brewery in the British town of Stockport. The brewery, as Dickinson goes on to explain in the clip, is where Iron Maiden’s ‘secret squirrel’ recipe will be brewed.

It’s no secret that beer and rock music, particularly live rock music, has existed, forever, but British metal icons Iron Maiden have taken that connection one step further. As from May, in fact, the band will be launching its own Trooper Premium British Beer.

Clearly excited about the whole venture, Dickinson, who is known to be an ale enthusiast, said “we wanted something suitably patriotic on the front, and Trooper leapt out and grabbed us straight away”. Diehard Iron Maiden fans will, of course, recognise the name as the title of one of the band’s most loved songs.

The band is currently gearing up for its European tour, which kicks off in Spain at the end of May.

Good news aside, the band’s former drummer Clive Burr sadly passed away earlier this month after a long spell of ill health.
