A magistrate yesterday rebuked a thief for stealing handbags, telling him he was not much of a man.

Sebastian Farrugia, 37, from Qormi, denied stealing a handbag from a car and relapsing before Magistrate Carol Peralta looked through his criminal record.

“Call yourself a man, stealing women’s handbags”, the magistrate commented, before noting Mr Farrugia had been convicted for accosting his victims and then making off with their bags.

Mr Farrugia insisted he was innocent and had been framed. He was remanded in custody.
