Government Whip Carmelo Abela yesterday in Parliament took the Chamber of Small and Medium Enterprises – GRTU to task for claiming, in a statement published in yesterday’s Times of Malta, that MPs were taking up parking spaces in Valletta without payment.

He said MPs paid €46.50 a year, failing which they would be charged normal CVA rates.

Mr Abela requested the Speaker to draw the attention of the GRTU and the media to rectify this statement.

Speaker Anġlu Farrugia said the GRTU’s claim had also been carried online in another section of the media. He called for corrections and for better checking of facts in future.
