The Malta Institute of Management’s annual VAT and EU conference will be held on October 19 and will focus on a range of VAT topics with domestic and EU relevance.

The current climate has brought to the fore the ever-increasing importance of making VAT less complex. The complexities of VAT have impacted the drive to combat fraud, a phenomenon which has implications for traders and authorities. Coupled with administrative burdens and compliance costs, these complications have also had a significant impact on businesses.

In the wake of the Green Paper on the future of VAT, a communication which consolidates the EU Commission’s priority of achieving a “simpler, more robust and efficient VAT system”, this year’s conference will explore issues from a comparative perspective.

A line-up of local and international experts will provide an insight into issues impacting businesses, recent and proposed legislative developments, issues related to VAT planning, and developments emerging from the local courts and the EU’s Court of Justice.

There is an early bird offer of €100 per person for people registering before August 31.
