Clyde Borg Conti, the Chief Executive Officer of the Malta Handball Association (MHA), will represent Malta at the International Handball Federation Congress in Doha, Qatar, this weekend.

Held every four years, the main item on the agenda are the elections for all the top positions within the governing body.

Delegates in Doha will also select the host country for the 2019 World Championship.

The decision is expected to be made on the last day of the meeting on Sunday.

The MHA looks at such events as an opportunity to promote their bid for further development of the sport on our islands.

In a statement, Borg Conti said: “At such high-profile meetings we take the opportunity to establish new relationships with other handball organisations that are willing to become our partners and ready to assist our relatively young and dynamic association in developing the game further.”

Borg Conti said the MHA has made giant steps forward thanks to the assistance received from both the International Handball Federation and the European Handball Federation.

“The MHA wants to make the game more popular locally among youths,” he said.

“It is in the interest of the entire handball community to see the game flourish and collaboration with international handball organisations is the key for all this to happen.”
